Don't you just love this weather??? Maybe you've finally put a blanket on the bed at night, looked forward to a hot cup o' joe in the a.m., perhaps even jumped into a pile of crisp Autumn leaves! That said, you know it must be CHILI time! Imagine curling up into your "Snuggie" with a bread bowl of steaming, delicious Majestic Chili! Yum!

And speaking of your chili addiction, a select few hundred people will get to sample said addictive chili at the Hollywood show this weekend---you know who you are!

The Hollywood Show was absolutely amazing! I had the good fortune to provide Majestic Chili to some of the most incredible people in the entertainment industry: The cast of Happy Days and The Brady Bunch; not to mention a certain childhood heartthrob...the charming Davy Jones!

Majestic Chili enjoyed an awesome debut...selling out in just 1 1/2 hours at the farmer's market!!! Of course, many thanks are due to the loyal following we've picked up along the way!

It is official! Majestic Chili will be open for business at the Chatsworth Farmer's market on June 13, 2009, from 4-8 p.m. This week we're excited to offer "The Queen's Original," reduced sodium, served hot and fresh by the cup!

The farmer's market is located on Devonshire St. and Winnetka Ave., in the St. Stephen Church parking lot. Please stop by and enjoy the world's best chili!

If all goes as planned, Majestic Chili will be holding court on June 13, 2009, at the Chatsworth Farmer's Market!!! There are a few loose ends to tie, but that should be a breeze. With any luck, you'll be receiving the detailed info via e-mail within the next several days. My thanks and love go out to those offering their unwavering support and much appreciated advice---(you know who you are!) Love you all! LG

A STAR IS BORN!

And so it begins: Majestic Chili's first day of business, at least in the eyes of the Office of Finance. There's still much to be done, and yet another license to secure. But things are progressing. And while I'm approved to prepare the chili, I still can't sell it! If all goes as planned, that will happen on June 6, 2009. Meanwhile, I've sent a query letter to Trader Joe's. Chef Larry suggested the use of soy chorizo in the vegan variety of Majestic Chili, and it ROCKS! Other soy products are slated for testing...

Drum roll, please...

The results are in! (and you thought it would take FIVE weeks---Ha!)

I PASSED the Food Handler's Manager Certification with an overall score of 95.6%!!! That should please the Department of Health!

Not only that, but Majestic Chili officially opens its "doors" one week from today. Can it get any better than this? Oh, yes! Chili JoGee and I are going on a field trip Monday to see the new digs: Mama's Small Business Kitchen Incubator, where the almost-famous chili will be prepared!!!

The reason? Rumor has it that folks are already searching the web and coming up empty-chili handed! Drat the luck! But I offer my sincerest apologies. The little-chili-that-could is building momentum, and web-hosting has yet to be assigned...any takers?

Ever wonder what it's like to start a business?

It's actually quite similar to carrying a child: the "experts" are often in disagreement with each other; and short of touching your stomach, complete strangers are known to offer up advice. Not to mention the emotional roller coaster: a moment of elation followed by a stomach-churning drop!


Let me sum it up like this: Certainly, it's a happy occasion; but at times you'll want to cry, and sometimes you just want to throw up!

Whew!

What a relief! Took the food handler's certification test today. Yea! Now all we do is wait...(cue the crickets...) It may take up to FIVE weeks for the results!!! What??? Yea, that's what I said.

Otherwise things are moving along: paperwork, test batches, government stuff, and more paperwork. All in the name of good health, taxes, and chili!

The Department of Health has got your back! After completing only 1/3 of the ServSafe program, I can (serv)safely say, there are myriad pathogens out there just clamoring to make us feel, well, icky!

The new website has been secured: www.MajesticChili.com. But before you overload the website, don't! There's nothing there! It's only a wee space reserved for the future web juggernaut that is Majestic Chili!

It's Official!

"Majestic Chili" is officially registered with the county recorder of Los Angeles!!! I, meanwhile, am hard at work, studying for my food handler's license. Things are progressing quickly! Majestic chili will be featured in a farmer's market near you...if you live in Northridge or Chatsworth, that is! Thank you Melissa, Kayla, and Alexa for all of your assistance!

I have to send a big shout out to all the folks who have supported this new endeavor. Your praise has been instrumental in getting it off the ground! And thank you, too, to the people at Mama's Small Business Kitchen in Pasadena! Your test batch is forthcoming!

Hello chili lovers!

Is it me? Or is it getting CHILI in here? (ba-da-bum!) I couldn't wait to get up and post that this morning! Today's goal: health permit!

It's a whirlwind of excitement around here as Majestic Chili gets off the ground: Permits, Licenses, Commercial Kitchens! (I cannot wait to cook in one of those!) Ciao!
